As of the first day of the new year, Belgium has instituted a ban on ritual slaugher, a decision which was backed up by both animal advocates and right-wing nationalists.

The ban is expected to trigger lawsuits from Jewish and Muslim leaders in Belgium who argue that the measure is dis

An estimated 30,000 Jews and 500,000 Muslims live in Belgium at the moment. The ban on ritual slaughtering will prompt these communities to buy their meat from other countries, probably from from Hungary and the Netherlands and will end up paying much more money for it, as i24 News reports.
