Belarus is promoting its meat and dairy products on the Chinese market

ZAO Meat and Dairy Company, a state-owned Belarusian company, has recently signed an agreement on establishing a joint venture with the Chinese holding company DRex Food in the free trade zone in Shanghai to promote Belarusian products.

According to the agreement, ZAO Meat and Dairy Company will start the shipment of 1 thousand tons of beef and 1 thousand tons of poultry meat to China.

The president and owner of DRex Food Dai Shiwei said that the new trade agreement is worth 1 billion dollars and, each month, the volume of the product supply will amount to 10 million dollars, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Belarus.

The minister of Agriculture and Food of Belarus Leonid Zayats said that the new agreement will bring good results throughout 2018.

Dai Shiwei also stressed that DRex Food sets the task to develop trade with Belarus and invest in agriculture. The Chinese company will invest 400 million dollars in modernizing the agricultural production facilities in the Vitebsk region. According to the agreement signed between DRex Food and The Vitebsk Oblast Executive Committee, dairy farms and a milk processing plant will be developed in the region within two years. The project plans to involve specialists from Israel, Holland.

Representatives of DRex Food Group Co., Ltd. went to Vitebsk region on December 28 to discuss this project with the governor and the signing of the investment agreement.

As Alexey Bogdanov, the head of the main department for foreign economic activity of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, noted that in 2017 trade and economic relations between Belarus and China in the field of agriculture and food were developing very successfully. "The main driver was dairy products. We increased its supply to the Chinese market by 10 times. In addition, we opened the Chinese market for beef and hope that the first deliveries there will be made before the New Year," he said.
