Avian flu outbreak reported by Germany in poultry farm
The Ministry of Agriculture from Schleswig-Holstein said that it is the first case of bird flu on a farm in Germany. The virus has been identified on the island of Hallig Suederoog in a farm with 57 chickens, turkeys, ducks and geese, all of which have been culled.
The Schleswig-Holstein state agriculture ministry has also announced that there was no record of the virus spreading to humans.
In February and January, two cases of bird flu have been reported at a farm in the Netherlands and in Southern England.
