Authorities from Ukraine and Poland will fight together against the ASF

On August 3, representatives of the competent authorities dealing with the elimination of African swine fever both from Ukraine and Poland, got together in Lviv to discuss the matter of cooperating in the fight against the ASF outbreaks, according to a press release of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection.

The aim of the meeting was mainly focused on finding out ways and joint efforts in the struggle against ASF in the territories of Ukraine and Poland, coordination of efforts, including in the part of wild boar depopulation, taking into account the common state border, work on the prompt informing of the parties about the epizootic situation on the territory of Ukraine and Poland at the state level and at the provincial and oblast level, exchange of experience in ensuring the country's stable epizootic well-being, etc.

In addition, the authorities from both countries take into consideration deepening cooperation on trade in agro-food products.

Volodymyr Lap, Head of the State Committee for Consumer Goods, and Consumer Protection, led the Ukrainian delegation. Among the participants were also the Chief Veterinary Officer of Ukraine, Director of the Department of Food Safety, and Veterinary Medicine BorysKobal, heads of a number of major departments of the State Committee for Consumer Safety and Health in the oblast and representatives of regional state administrations.

Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture and Development of the Republic of Poland, Eva Lech was part of the Polish delegation, which also included: Chief Veterinary Officer of the Republic of Poland Pavel Nemchuk, Director of the State Institute of Veterinary Medicine in Pulavakh, Professor of the Republic of Poland Kshistof Nemchuk.
