Argentine beef exports higher in February
Argentine beef exports corresponding to the second month of 2021 reached a value of approximately 186.3 million dollars, resulting 5.1% higher than the 177.2 million dollars obtained in February 2020. However, the Average price was 19.8% lower than in the second month of 2020, although slightly higher (+ 0.1%) than in January 2021.
Exports accumulated throughout the last year, from March 2020 to February 2021, were located in volumes close to 920.7 thousand tons equivalent of beef with bone; for a value close to 2,701.5 million dollars.
In summary, shipments of chilled, frozen cuts, and processed meat corresponding to the month of February 2021 totaled 45,055 tons of product weight, worth approximately $ 186.3 million. The average FOB price per ton for the period in question was approximately US $ 6,650 for chilled boneless cuts; and slightly higher than US $ 4,100 for frozen boneless cuts.
The People's Republic of China was the main destination, in volume, for Argentine beef during the first two months of 2021 with approximately 69.7 thousand tons, followed by Israel, 7.4 thousand tons, and then by Chile, 5, 2 thousand tons. Regarding the value of the foreign currency entered, the main market was also China, which represented (60.0%) of the total exported value of chilled, frozen and processed beef in the period, followed by Israel (13.3%) , and Chile (7.5%).
